RDH wants to be sure that the OM course is transferable and accepted in Canada

I have been a Registered Dental Hygienist for over 10 years and would like to become a Certified Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist here in Nova Scotia, Canada.  I want to be sure that the course is transferable and accepted in Canada.  Also, so I just register for the introductory course or is there something that I need to do first?  Is there any pre-reading/prep to do prior to the course?

Thank you for your time and attention.

Hi A,

Thanks for contacting me.  There is still space left in this course, but it is starting to fill up. As long as you are an RDH with a license in your province (or country, etc.) you are eligible for the training and joining the IAOM afterwards as you complete the certification process.  Each province has different rules but I have never heard of any that did not permit one to practice orofacial myology as an RDH.  In some provinces they may specify that they only accept courses such as ours (certification track courses), but you would be safe taking our particular course in that situation.  You don’t have to do any preparations prior to our class.  (We get that question on occasion, but no prerequisites are necessary except that you have the license as an RDH, DDS, or SLP in your country, province or state.)

We have many “grads” from all over Canada and it seems to be very much in demand in Canada…. very nice for those starting out!!

Our course includes the Myo Manual, a treatment program that you will learn during our course, so there is no need to purchase it beforehand.  I just finished our Nov Orlando course yesterday and we said our sad goodbyes to one another.  Our groups always seems to become “friends for life” and I’m sure you will develop relationships with those in the course you take with us as well.  It’s good, because then you don’t feel alone once you get back home.  Also, I try to be available to my graduates and introduce you to others etc.

Thank you again for your inquiry and I hope it works out that we get to meet and work together.  I suggest registering fairly soon since I have had to shut out folks quite often recently and I feel bad!!!
