Q:
Hi Sandra,
A quick question. I have the two way and the three way mouth props. I love them both but are there certain cases that work better with one of them rather than the other? In other words, can you tell me the advantages in each of them? Thank you for your time and information.

Hi,
That is a great question. I’m glad to help you out with this. If you are already a second edition Myo Manual owner, you will find that we put exactly that information on page 93. In case you don’t have access to it (and for other readers of this Q & A), I’ll put the advantages and disadvantages below for both the 2Way and 3Way Mouth Props:
2Way Mouth Prop
Advantages
- Extremely sturdy – will not collapse or flatten.
- Reusable and easy to disinfect.
- Less expensive to purchase.
- Remains stable once placed in position between teeth
Disadvantages
- Does not offer a position with a very small oral opening
- Does not have a holding stick, only a small edge for insertion and removal of prop
3Way Mouth Prop
Advantages
- Offers three different levels of openings.
- Includes smallest level which is often helpful as a starting place for tongue to spot training and also useful for young children’s smaller mouths.
- Includes a holding stick that allows for easier insertion and control.
Disadvantages
- Not usable for clients with a strong bite reflex; it collapses and flattens under those conditions.
- Not often reusable.
- More expensive to purchase.
