A: Happy to remind you! Terms such as “reverse swallow,” “tongue thrust,” “deviate swallow,” and similar terms are no longer considered acceptable terms to refer to what is now the specialty area of orofacial myology because this specialty area encompasses so much more than merely “how the client swallows.” Also, don’t forget to limit or eliminate the use of “pressure,” muscle “balance,” “weak tongue,” and “low tone.”
