Can we stretch or lengthen the lingual frenum?

Sandra- I wanted to see if you have had much success with lengthening the lingual frenum with OMT. I know I have heard a few therapists saying that they have had success. What is your opinion? Will we be touching upon this in your course? SL

Hi, You’ll be getting more than you expect at my course related to ankyloglossia and restricted frena.  As Alison Hazelbaker, author of  Tongue Tie: Morphongenesis, Impact, Assessment and Treatment says, “If lingual frena could be stretched, we wouldn’t have tongue tied adults!” In class we’ll be talking about “maximizing” each patient and it will become evident that the frenum might appear to be changing with exercises, but in reality we are just getting the tongue to be more efficient in many areas.
