How many visits are needed for oral habits?
Q: Looking through the kits, I’m just curious about a few things. I ordered the Unplugging the Thumb and Growing the Nails kits. I’m wondering how many visits are needed for oral habits? And also how much do you charge for each treatment? Any help would be appreciated as I’m new to this.
A: For both the Unplugging the Thumb and the Growing the Nails, they are 10 day programs. Since most patients will need myo thereafter, you will of course monitor their habits as you move forward. Therefore, we can approximate how many visits are needed for oral habits; however, additional sessions will be needed once the habit is extinguished.

As for fees, some people charge per session as opposed to a flat fee for habit elimination. You can choose whichever you prefer. Prices depend upon where you live, your sources of referral, your setting, and what others in your area charge for a speech therapy session, for example. You might want to make some phone calls and find out the local charges.
I’d have to have more specific details before I could suggest a payment method and amount. Are you in a office where the DDS will be sending them, for example? Or private? Other?
