Q: The Myo Manual has been very helpful! I have a question. I know every patient is different, but do you typically work towards passing proficiency exam #1 before you move on to any of the lip and mentalis exercises in phase 1?
A: You may recall that we mentioned in class that the lip exercises can begin on day one along with the lingual exercises.
As for the mentalis, I think it is acceptable to start that earlier if you wish. Usually the patient has so many lingual exercises plus the lips exercises that we wait until later to do mentalis, but it would not interfere if you choose to do it earlier…especially since it takes quite a while to make a noticeable difference. That’s a good question and I’m glad you’re keeping in touch and thinking on your feet!
