Qualified Orofacial Myologist (QOM)

WHAT:  QOM distinguishes those who have completed the Neo-Health Services (NHS) 28 hour course, Orofacial Myology: From Basics to Habituation, have passed the examination and required clinical components, and are dedicated to high standards of professionalism as well as respect of their own Scopes of Practice and those of their professional associates.

WHY:  In response to our course graduates’ request for recognition as highly trained individuals who are qualified to treat and oversee treatment in their facilities, we listened, we worked on it and have developed what they have been asking for.

WHO:  Past and future graduates of the NHS 28-hour course, Orofacial Myology: From Basics to Habituation.

HOW:

  1. Attend the approved 28 hour course, Orofacial Myology: From Basics to Habituation
  2. Pass the QOM Exam Component
  • QOM exam based upon the following:
    • Course training and materials
    • Myo Manual Treatment Program method
    • Understanding of and ability to utilize NHS habit elimination programs
    • Review of certain papers, research articles, and other information found on orofacialmyology.com and www.ASHA.org websites
  1. Sign the Affidavit
  • Affirms adherence to certain standards related to clients, Scopes of Practice, and related professionals
  • Affirms utilization of assessment and treatment methods approved by Neo-Health Services
  1. Clinical Skills
    • Assessment
    • Treatment
    • Ability to modify program for each individual
    • NOTE:  No on-site visit is required to complete this phase

HOW MUCH: Here, again, we listened and complied with the wishes of past course participants.  They felt that the initial course fee should cover the Qualification  (QOM) process.  Thus, there is no fee to enter the process. It is complimentary unless certain deadlines are unmet.

Qualified Orofacial Myologist (QOM-D)

WHAT:  QOM-D distinguishes those dental professionals who have completed the Neo-Health Services, Inc. (NHS) 28 hour course, Orofacial Myology: From Basics to Habituation, have passed the examination and required clinical questionnaire, and are dedicated to high standards of professionalism as well as respect of their own Scopes of Practice and those of their professional associates.

 WHY: Certain dental professionals desire to oversee a program of orofacial myology within their office settings.  They desire a credential that demonstrates their having taken NHS training without intention to do the actual treatment.  The QOM-D is a recognition of their unique ability to oversee those trained individuals within their facilities who will be providing the assessment and treatment.

HOW: 

  1. Attend the approved 28 hour course, Orofacial Myology: From Basics to Habituation
  2. Pass the QOM Exam Component
