Thank you so much for seeing my client and me for a tongue tie consultation. As I wrote earlier, he did have the frenectomy and I am seeing him now for treatment. He has great mobility except elevation outside the mouth. He cannot lick upper lip or lift up if the tongue is extended. He has perfect placement for l inside the mouth… Any suggestions? I have been using a tongue depressor to push down on the tongue blade to create a bowl and force the tip up. Thank you! I am grateful that I have someone to ask:)
From what you said and from the photos, I think what you have done is fine for someone not yet 4 years old. You can actually move forward and do therapy for whatever he needs now. Most 3 year olds cannot volitionally elevate the tongue tip with the mouth open, so that is quite ok. I would incorporate general lingual movements/excursions inside and outside of the oral cavity just a minute or two during your sessions as you grapple whatever other issues are on the table to do. Feel free to keep in contact, ask questions, etc. My best, Sandra
