Q: Hi Sandra, I am interested in purchasing your Myo Manual. I have been in contact with you in the past. Will the manual and the kit qualify me to use the program in my field of speech language pathology? I was trained in this in the past but was told I could not use the program because it was a “trade secret.” It is unfortunate because I practiced it for 2 years and know it works!! I would love to have the training from another source and also have the tools to be able to evaluate the thrusting and lip strength more objectively. Do you use the fluorescent light to evaluate ?? If I can use this to practice I would love to purchase it ASAP . Thank you kindly
A: I do recall our having been in contact in the past and it’s good to hear from you again. Originally, I authored the Myo Manual to be used in conjunction with my training courses, and we cover every exercise during the intro 4 day course. There are hundreds of hospitals, universities, clinics and individuals worldwide who have purchased and who use the Myo Manual treatment program. Not all of them have taken my course. The Myo Manual program is sequential and differs from anything else available on the market. It is not meant by itself to “qualify” anyone to practice, but there is nothing stopping you from buying it and using it, of course. There are no “trade secrets” and I can’t even imagine how anyone would say that to you. Our organization, Neo-Health Services (NHS) readily embraces our sharing information with one another. We are dedicated to training SLPs like yourself who have had interest in orofacial myology and will make fine orofacial myologists. Regarding the fluorescent light, I have not used it for many years. It was somewhat complicated and not consistent in its results. It was called the Payne Technique. It had its purpose, but there is so much more you will learn at our course in particular about a thorough evaluation that you won’t need anything else to convince patients that they need to sign up for therapy.
