“Without mechanical assistance” means without a mouth prop?

Hi, Review the first part of the Phase One on page 22 and it should give you a better understanding of the “without assistance” info.  Anything other than the brain is considered WITH Assistance, be it a mouth prop, tongue blade, or even support from the helper’s hands.  The client usually has to master an exercise first with some type of assistance…. and then practice it until only the brain and tongue is needed to complete the goal satisfactorily WITHOUT any outside assistance.
